Country 'bemused' by American obsession with terrorism.

Town ‘unfazed’ by attacks, county native says

Yesterday’s blasts in London were felt 60 miles away in Cambridge. Yet the feeling wasn’t fear, according to a Lawrence County native living there. It was resilience.
“I think people made a determined effort to remain unfazed by it,” Logan Kunz said last night. Kunz first heard about the blast going into work around 10 a.m. yesterday. The 1997 Laurel High graduate is a software tester for Numark, a company that develops audio equipment. He moved from San Francisco to Cambridge after a co-worker relocated there to lead a new project with the firm. Despite the overall concern in Cambridge, “the only sign that something had happened was that there was an ambulance parked by the train station — and a very busy evening at the pub,” Kunz said. “This is a city that went through the blitz in World War II, that went through terrorism in the ’70s and ’80s. I’m not gonna say that this isn’t bad, but it didn’t have the catastrophic effect of 9/11.”

Kunz’s mother, Kathy, who still lives in the area, wasn’t too worried about her son’s welfare since she knew that Logan didn’t have any plans to visit London. “I’m still glad he sent me an e-mail (saying he was OK),” she said.

I swear, sometimes it seems like every person in this country who is either buying a house or looking to remodel one has a BBC or ITV camera crew following them around.
